Orpheum Summer Movies Move to Year-Round Series

On Friday, September 18th the Orpheum Theatre will conclude its 2010 Summer Movie Series season with a showing of the 1942 WWII classic romantic film, Casablanca. Bogart's infamous words, "Here's looking at you kid" will once again capture the hearts of patrons, leaving them wanting more—and that's exactly what they'll get.

Due to the success and popular demand of the summer movie series, Pat Halloran, Orpheum President and CEO, has decided to continue showing classic films throughout the year. "The Orpheum was once the finest movie palace in the South", said Halloran, "so it's only fitting that we should invite the community to experience this rich heritage as often as possible. Because movie tickets are so affordable, we hope to attract a young, diverse audience that will hopefully become the Orpheum's Broadway audience of the future."

Tickets are just $7 for adults and $6 for children 12 and under, making movie night at The Orpheum an affordable way to bring families together to enjoy quality entertainment. The Orpheum offers a wide variety of movies ranging from classics such as Gone with the Wind and Mary Poppins to cult favorites like Rocky Horror Picture Show and Ferris Bueller's Day Off. To enhance the theatre experience, The Orpheum offers pre-show activities such as trivia contest, fashion shows, dance lessons, mini golf tournaments, themed costume contests, vintage film shorts and even a mini-concert on The Orpheum's own Mighty Wurlitzer Organ.
