Like most big cities, Memphis has its share of things for adults to do at night: clubs, live music, performing arts and cool restaurants, but what about kids and teens? The fun (for kids) in Memphis doesn’t have to end when the sun goes down and the museums and attractions close for the day. Check out these exciting and entertaining nighttime activities (outdoors and indoors) to keep kids and teens interested.

Backbeat Tours - Walking Ghost Tours
Got a teen who is down for a little adventure? Hear tales of the city’s haunted heritage and darker side as told by a professional Backbeat storyteller. They’ll be all ears for the eerie stories of ghosts and lost souls like “Mary,” who has haunted the Orpheum Theater or the notorious Ernestine & Hazel’s, a long-ago brothel recognized as one of the most haunted buildings in Memphis.

2-hour ghost tours with Backbeat are $13 for kids (7-12) and $20 for adults. Most tours begin around 8 p.m., but make sure you check their website for seasonal schedules

Levitt Shell
Just like the best things in life, concerts at the Levitt Shell are free. Located in Midtown Memphis, the Levitt Shell outdoor amphitheater seats 3,000 and gives kids just enough room to roam while you can still keep an eye on them. Teens love to hang out on a blanket and jam with bands like Lucero, the Old 97’s, North Mississippi Allstars and Star & Micey. With over 50 free concerts offered every year, you’re bound to find a band that both you and your kids can agree on.

Sky Zone Indoor Trampoline Park
Jump, jump, jump around! Kids love catching some air and bouncing off the walls at Sky Zone Trampoline Park. They’ll flip for the foam pit and LOL in a game of trampoline dodge ball. Sky Zone is ideal for church groups, school groups, day cares, and sports teams. Most jumpers will go for 1-2 hours (just enough to fall asleep on the ride home). Check their website for pricing and times

Redbirds baseball at AutoZone Park
The Memphis Redbirds, Triple-A minor league baseball affiliate to the St. Louis Cardinals, play in beautiful AutoZone Park (within easy walking distance to Beale Street Entertainment District). Parents love the budget-friendly prices and kids can chillax on the outfield hill, chasing down a home runs and snacking on BBQ nachos.

AutoZone Park has drawn rave reviews from publications such as Sports Illustrated and Baseball America, having been called “one of America’s 10 Best Ball Park Vacation Destinations.”

Kids with varying interests agree that Golf & Games Family Park is all good. This 40-acre entertainment center boasts 54 holes of Putt-Putt golf, batting cages, bumper boats, arcade games and much more.
