Ellis Auditorium was the site of legendary performers like John Philip Sousa, Elvis Presley, Mary Martin and Katharine Hepburn. The auditorium was razed in 1999 to make way for the the new and updated Cannon Center for the Performing Arts. Home of the Memphis Symphony Orchestra and host of concerts and theater productions, the Cannon Center has continued the tradition.
